Village Disaster Management Plan
Community participation is at the heart of effective disaster risk reduction. Recognizing this, Suprativa has spearheaded the development of Village Disaster Management Plans (VDMP) in 32 villages across Niali and Baranga Blocks of Cuttack district, Odisha. These plans have been created in collaboration with local communities, ensuring their active involvement and ownership in disaster preparedness and response efforts. The VDMPs are comprehensive documents that outline preparedness, response, and mitigation strategies tailored to the specific needs and vulnerabilities of each village. By involving community members in the planning process, we empower them to take ownership of their own safety and well-being. Each plan delineates clear roles and responsibilities, ensuring a coordinated and efficient response in the event of a disaster. Our VDMPs serve as invaluable tools for communities to navigate through the complexities of disaster management. They provide a roadmap for swift and effective action, guiding communities in both preparedness measures and response efforts. By instilling a sense of confidence and resilience, these plans empower communities to face adversity with courage and determination. The implementation of Village Disaster Management Plans has had a tangible impact on the resilience of communities in Cuttack district. Through proactive planning and community engagement, we have strengthened the capacity of local residents to withstand and recover from disasters. Moving forward, Suprativa remains committed to expanding our efforts in disaster risk reduction, collaborating with communities to build safer, more resilient cities and communities. Together, we can create a future where all communities are equipped to face the challenges of an ever-changing world.
