We believe that education is the corner-stone of empowerment and social progress. Through our initiatives, we remain dedicated to creating a more inclusive and equitable society, where every individual has the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to the common good.
Special School for Child Labour
As part of our ongoing efforts to prevent child labour and provide educational opportunities to vulnerable children, we have established special schools under the National Child Labour Project. These schools cater exclusively to children previously engaged in various forms of labor, offering them quality education, vocational training, and essential support services. With a focus on mainstreaming children into formal education systems, our initiative has benefitted over 250 children in Cuttack Sadar and Tangi Choudwar Blocks of Odisha. Additionally, thanks to the support of Sir Dorabjee Tata Trust, we have expanded our reach to serve 100 children from marginalized communities in Chandanpur and Chagharia Pada villages, enabling them to build a solid foundation for a brighter future.
Skill Development Training
Recognizing the importance of skill development in enhancing employability and fostering economic empowerment, we offer vocational training programs for unemployed youth. Through short-term, modular courses in trades such as tailoring, mushroom cultivation, beekeeping, and more, we equip individuals with practical skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the workforce. Sponsored under the Community Development through Polytechnic scheme, our training programs have benefitted over 1140 youths, empowering them to pursue sustainable livelihoods and contribute to their communities' development.
Science Communication for the Masses
Suprativa was founded with a primary objective of science popularization, evolving into a people's science movement aimed at harnessing the power of science and technology for the benefit of society's weaker sections. Through various science communication initiatives, including folk media, digital platforms, and community engagement activities, we strive to foster scientific literacy and promote a culture of innovation and inquiry. Our collaboration with National Council for Science & Technology Communication has enabled us to undertake numerous projects focused on topics such as food adulteration prevention, nature study activities, disaster preparedness, and more, reaching diverse audiences across Odisha.
Distribution of Educational Materials
Suprativa, in collaboration with Goonj, has been distributing educational materials such as notebooks, pens, pencils, rulers, pencil boxes, bags, etc., to students. To date, approximately 400 students of Sambalpur and Bargarh districts have benefited from this program.
