Our efforts in promoting bio-pesticides and raising environmental awareness have had a positive impact on communities and ecosystems. Moving forward, Suprativa remains committed to expanding our reach, collaborating with stakeholders, and implementing sustainable land management practices. Together, we can create a healthier and more resilient planet for all forms of life.
Promotion of Bio-pesticides
Chemical pesticides pose significant risks to human health and the environment, particularly impacting women and children. To address these concerns, Suprativa has pioneered the promotion of eco-friendly and safe alternatives, such as bio-pesticides derived from neem and pongamia oils. These natural solutions offer effective pest control while minimizing harm to the environment and human health. Our simple yet effective neem/pongamia oil soap solution provides farmers with a sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides. Easily soluble in water, these soaps effectively target common insect pests, such as the diamondback moth of cabbage and cauliflower, leaf miner in tomato, and fruit flies in cucurbits. By harnessing the power of indigenous plants like neem and pongamia, farmers can protect their crops while safeguarding biodiversity and ecosystem health. The main objectives of our project are to raise awareness about the harmful consequences of chemical pesticides, train farmers in the usage of bio-pesticides, and empower them to prepare their own formulations. Supported by the World Bank under the IDM Award, our project has already benefited 1149 farmers, promoted sustainable agricultural practices and reduced reliance on harmful chemicals.
Environment Awareness Campaign
Since 1996, Suprativa has actively participated in the National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC) initiated by the Government of India's Ministry of Environment and Forests. Through this campaign, we aim to raise awareness about environmental conservation and biodiversity protection among various target groups, including students, teachers, women, and the general public. Utilizing traditional and non-traditional communication methods, we organize workshops, seminars, camps, and competitions to spread environmental messages aligned with the themes decided by the Ministry. By engaging with communities and fostering a sense of environmental stewardship, we empower individuals to take collective action for the preservation of our planet's precious resources.
